1. General information about Colorado potato beetles
The Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) is one of the most well-known pests in vegetable cultivation. Originally introduced from North America, it has spread widely in Europe and primarily attacks potato plants , but also tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants .
The beetles are yellow with black longitudinal stripes on their wing covers and are easy to spot. However, the larvae are particularly feared, as they can quickly devour entire potato fields. If left unchecked, a severe infestation leads to significant crop losses.
