Predatory mites are microscopic, beneficial arachnids that specifically target and combat pests such as spider mites, thrips, or fungus gnat larvae – completely without chemicals.
Depending on the species, predatory mites combat pests including spider mites, thrips, fungus gnat larvae, and other sap-sucking or soil-dwelling pests.
No, predatory mites are completely harmless to humans, pets, and plants. They do not sting or bite and do not cause allergies.
Predatory mites actively search for prey, such as spider mites or larvae, and feed on them. In doing so, they provide natural and sustainable pest control.
About 10 days after applying Green Guardia predatory mites, you will already notice a significant decrease in the infestation. After another week, you should check your plants more closely: if you find more bright orange-red predatory mites on the leaves than greenish-yellow, black-spotted spider mites, the treatment is successful.
To check if your plants are free from bulb mites, ensure the leaves no longer show fine webbing and the plant looks healthier overall. The absence of small yellowish spots on the leaves is also a good sign. For thrips, you will recognize the success when there are no more silvery feeding marks or dark droppings visible on the leaves.
Within 2 to 3 weeks, your plants will be nearly free of thrips, spider mites, bulb mites, and broad mites.
Yes, especially in vulnerable areas like greenhouses or for sensitive plants, preventive use can be useful.

The mites survive even in freezing temperatures, but their activity slows down. A warmer environment accelerates their effect.
Additionally, it can help to gently breathe on the mites to activate them with the warmth.
For bulk material, the carrier is sprinkled directly onto the affected plants or the soil. The sachet version is hung directly on the affected plants. Avoid direct sunlight during application.
As a rule, one application is sufficient. In cases of severe infestation or unfavorable conditions, a follow-up treatment after 7–14 days may be useful.
When you buy our Green Guardia predatory mites, we recommend applying the beneficials immediately after arrival – ideally on the evening of the delivery day or the following morning. The predatory mites can be stored in the refrigerator at 10 °C for a maximum of one day. Ensure that no chemical pesticides have been used in the 6 weeks prior to the application of the predatory mites. For long-term pest control, the application of predatory mites can be repeated if necessary. We also offer sachets that can simply be hung on the plant or spread around.
In the sachets, there are prey mites alongside the predatory mites, so the mites often have enough food and do not leave the sachet immediately. This is completely normal and not a sign that they are inactive.
If the food source is missing, predatory mites die off after some time or migrate away. They leave no traces or damage behind.
