FAQ's

Warehouse pirates, warehouse wasps, braconid wasps & ant-like flower beetles are tiny, specialized beneficial insects for the biological control of stored product pests like grain weevils, flour beetles, or moth larvae in your pantry.

Warehouse pirates (Xylocoris flavipes) actively hunt pests like beetle larvae and moth larvae, while warehouse wasps (e.g., Anisopteromalus calandrae) specifically parasitize eggs and larvae of stored product pests. Braconid wasps (e.g., Habrobracon hebetor) primarily combat moth larvae by paralyzing them and using them for reproduction. Ant-like flower beetles (e.g., Lariophagus distinguendus) track down hidden beetle larvae in stored goods and specifically parasitize them.

No, both are completely harmless. They are not visibly active, do not sting, and quietly leave the affected areas after finishing their work.

Warehouse pirates (Xylocoris flavipes) are predatory beneficial insects that actively hunt small pests as well as their eggs and larvae. They pierce their prey and feed on them.

Warehouse wasps (e.g., Anisopteromalus calandrae) specifically lay their eggs in or on the larvae of stored product pests. The developing beneficial insects use the pest as a food source.

Braconid wasps (e.g., Habrobracon hebetor) paralyze primarily moth larvae with a sting and then lay their eggs on the paralyzed larvae.

Ant-like flower beetles (e.g., Lariophagus distinguendus) track down hidden beetle larvae in stored goods and specifically parasitize them, preventing the pests from developing further.

Initial effects can be visible after 1–2 weeks. A complete interruption of the stored product pests' life cycle usually takes 3–6 weeks.

Yes, especially in regularly infested storage areas or with sensitive stored goods, preventive use is recommended.

The beneficial insects are delivered in small tubes that already contain wasp pupae or active insects. The tubes can be easily placed in the storage area.

Yes, the tubes should be opened immediately upon receipt and placed at the site of infestation. Storage in the refrigerator is not recommended.

Since these are sensitive living goods, delivery to parcel stations is not suitable.

Currently, we only ship warehouse pirates, warehouse wasps, braconid wasps & ant-like flower beetles within Germany. We ship all other beneficial insects EU-wide.

Place the opened tube directly in the infested pantry or storage area. The insects will leave the tube on their own and actively search for pests.

Depending on the infestation, a single application may be sufficient. In cases of severe or recurring pest pressure, a second application after 2–3 weeks may be useful.

Room temperatures of 18–28 °C are ideal. Make sure not to use chemical products at the same time, as these can harm the beneficial insects.

In the pantry, on shelves, or between infested food items – as close to the sources of pests as possible.

As soon as there is no more food left, the insects die off after a few days. They decompose unnoticeably and leave no residues.

Yes, they can be well combined with trichogramma wasps against moths if both beetle larvae and moths are present.
